Quality of life of patients who underwent subtotal colectomy for chronic colonostasis

Abstract

50 patients with executed operation a subtotal colectomy (SCE) for the last 5 years concerning the chronic colostasis (CC) are examined; indications to surgical treatment of CC were lack of effects of conservative therapy within 2,5 years and a chair delay more than 120 hours in a combination and without abdominal painful a syndrome. According to the terms of the postoperative period - up to 1 year there were 11 patients, 2 years - 11, 3 years - 12, 4 years - 4, 5 years - 5, 6 years - 4 and 7 - years - 3 patients. There were 45 women,5 men, whose average age was 41 years (from 17 to 71 years).The quality of SCE surgery in the long - term postoperative period was assessed using the Visick scale, the quality of life was based on a modified Japanese questionnaire. After SCE performed for CC in the long postoperative period, good results of Visick surgery were observed in 56% of patients, satisfactory in 38% and unsatisfactory results in 6% of patients; a good quality of life was defined in 60.2% of patients, satisfactory in 20.8%, and unsatisfactory in 10% of patients. In process of increase in the post - operational period (more than 5 years) after a subtotal colectomy there is an improvement in the quality of both the operation and the life of patients.
