Peer-Review
All manuscripts received by the editorial office of the Ural Medical Journal undergo mandatory two-way anonymous ("double blind") peer review (reviewers do not know the authors of the manuscripts, the authors of the manuscript do not know the reviewers and receive an anonymous review from the executive secretary of the journal).
- Reviewing of articles is carried out by members of the editorial board, as well as independent reviewers - leading experts on the topic presented in the article.
- The decision on the choice of a particular reviewer for the examination of the article is made by the deputy editor-in-chief, scientific editor or executive secretary of the editorial board.
- The review period is on average 2-3 weeks, the period can be extended at the request of the reviewer.
- Each original article is peer-reviewed and reviewed by a statistician.
- Each reviewer has the right to refuse to review in the event of a clear conflict of interest.
- Based on the results of consideration of the manuscript, the reviewer fills out a formalized review form, if necessary, provides comments and recommendations for improving the manuscript and makes the following recommendations:
- the manuscript can be accepted for publication;
- the manuscript requires revision and re-review;
- the manuscript requires revision and can be accepted for publication without re-reviewing;
- the manuscript cannot be accepted for publication;
- the manuscript should be submitted for review to another specialist.
- If the review contains recommendations for correction and revision, the executive secretary of the journal sends the text of the review to the author with a proposal to take them into account when preparing a new version of the article or reasonably (partially or completely) refute them. Finalization of the article should not take more than two months from the moment of sending an email message to the authors about the need to make changes. The article modified by the author is sent for re-review.
- In case the authors refuse to modify the materials, they must notify the editor in a writing form about their refusal to publish the article. If the authors do not submit the modified version within 3 months from the date of receiving the review comments, the editorial office removes the manuscript from the register. In such situations, the authors are notified of the expiration of the time allotted for revision.
- If authors and reviewers have unresolved contradictions regarding the manuscript, the editorial board directs the manuscript for additional review. An additional reviewer is also appointed in case of conflicting recommendations for the publication of the article from the originally appointed reviewers. In conflict situations, the decision is made by the editor-in-chief or collegially at the next meeting of the editorial board..
- The decision to refuse publication of the manuscript is made at a meeting of the editorial board in accordance with the recommendations of the reviewers. An article not recommended for publication by the decision of the editorial board is not accepted for reconsideration. The refusal to publish is sent to the author by e-mail.
- The originals of reviews are kept in the editorial office of the journal for 5 years.
