Cell renewal markers in AМAСR-positive phenotype of atypical small acinar proliferation and prostate carcinoma of different grades

Abstract

We took 540 prostate biopsy samples from 90 patients and divided them the into six groups: the 1st group consisted of 15 patients with prostate carcinoma of a I Grade; the 2 nd group - 15 patients with prostate carcinoma of a II Grade; the 3 rd group - 15 patients with carcinoma of a III Grade; 4 th group - 15 patients with prostate carcinoma of a IV Grade; 5 th - 15 patients with prostate carcinoma of a V Grade; 6 th - 15 patients with atypical small acinar proliferation. We used morphological assay and statistical methods to provide comparative analysis of the groups. The highest mitotic activity of epithelial cells was found in patients with adenocarcinoma of a V Grade [Me = 15% (9-31)]. The lowest level of mitotic activity was identified in patients with atypical small acinar proliferation [Me = 3% (1-6)] and II Grade [Ме = 3% (1-6)]. The lowest expression of caspase-3 was detected in patients with atypical small acinar proliferation [Ме =9% (2-18] and with carcinoma of a I Grade [Ме=11% (2-18)]. The smallest expression of caspase-3 marker was identified in patients with adenocarcinoma of a V Grade [Me = 3% (1-12)].
