Intrapulmonary lymph nodes: pathology and diagnostic problems

Abstract

The morphological characteristics of intrapulmonary lymph nodes (IPLN) are presented in patients with primary lung cancer according to resection data. Clinical, radiological and pathological comparison was performed and it was shown that in most cases, a differential diagnosis was made between the primary tumor process and metastatic lung injury. Macroscopically on the resected material, increased IPLN with pronounced dust and atrophy were detected. In a number of cases, IPLN was identified as a random finding in the morphological study of surgical material. An observation was made in which a segmental resection of the lung was performed in connection with an erroneous diagnosis of metastasis in patients with anthracoconiosis IPLN.
